Tesla briefly lists a Robotaxi-only camera washer part for personal cars, then pulls it

Tesla briefly added a Robotaxi-exclusive camera washer part to its consumer parts catalog before pulling it shortly after it was spotted — a move tied to "Project Halo," Tesla's effort to convert consumer-owned Model Ys into Robotaxis, raising the question of whether owners could eventually get the hardware too.

The listing appeared in Tesla's Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) for the redesigned "Juniper" Model Y, under a category called "HALO" — alongside an entry for a cleaning system with dedicated wipers and a washer pump for the exterior cameras, plus a separate entry for liftgate components, latches, and lights.

The "HALO" name ties directly to Project Halo, Tesla's internal effort to retrofit consumer-owned Model Ys so they can operate on the Robotaxi network. The camera washer hardware itself was first spotted on Robotaxi vehicles in Austin roughly six months ago, and until now had been exclusive to that fleet.

Its appearance in the parts catalog would have opened an ordering path through Tesla-operated service centers and approved collision shops — but it disappeared again shortly after being noticed, leaving it unclear whether Tesla was preparing an official rollout or exposed it by mistake.

Observers see two possible readings: that camera washers are headed toward becoming a standard feature on consumer Model Ys, or conversely that the hardware could become a prerequisite for any consumer-owned vehicle to run on the Robotaxi network. Pricing was not disclosed.
