Tesla opened its Berlin Engineering Center (BTEC) on Nov. 4, merging four sites into one campus to shorten the loop between development and production near Giga Berlin.

Per Teslarati, Tesla opened its Berlin Engineering Center (BTEC) on Wednesday, Nov. 4, consolidating four previously separate engineering sites and 30 labs into a single campus.

The investment is €100 million. It starts with roughly 250 engineers and technicians, with plans to grow to about 500 if a second phase is approved. The site is in Köpenick, about a 30-minute drive from Giga Berlin.

By putting materials, powertrain, vehicle engineering and validation together, Tesla aims to shorten feedback cycles between development and production. The center supports Giga Berlin on technical issues and also develops and validates parts for vehicles built in China and the US. It is Tesla's third such hub after Fremont and Shanghai.
